If Guns Are The Cause of Violence Why Do Areas With High Civilian Gun Ownership Have Lower Crime Rates?

Update:

Read More Guns Less Crime by John Lott for details.

I live in Philadelphia, the crime rate is far lower in Philly than our sister city Camden. The poverty and population rates are the same. The difference, there are armed citizens in Philadelphia.

Because in places with low crime rates people aren't so freaked out be guns.

They don't. I'll randomly pick Philadelphia to back up my argument.

edit: what on earth are you talking about - there are more deaths from gunshot wounds in Philadelphia relative to it's population than any other city in the US. The simple fact is this: the more people carrying guns - the more people using guns.

FYI your "crime statistics" are useless as it's also deemed the most corrupt city in the US. Just because crimes go unreported doesn't mean there isn't a serious problem.

    Not true.

The difference: Philadelphia is more affluent than Camden.

    That simply isn't so.
