Fellow Christians: If we all Worship and Serve the same God through His Son Jesus, why are there so many ?
Why are there so many denominations? We all accept Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord.We all praise, worship and serve Him.We all have to surrender ourselves to Him and His will.We all have to love God and one another. So, if we all serve the same God, why are we divided?
May God bless you and thank you

Simple answer. People always have other opinions and missunderstand a lot. Some christians thought like this, and some like that. And some people just missunderstood somethings and started to believe in what they had heard, but the problem is that they heard wrong!
Since there were so many different opinions, they split up. The 3 biggest Christian groups are Catholic, Orthodox and Protestantic Christians.
Now I'm not Christian, but I respect your religions. I personally think that the protestantic religion seems like the christian group that makes the most sense. Why do you have to listen to a pope? Where in the bible does it say that Christians must listen to a pope and do as he orders?
Actually, it has happend that the pope long ago tricked the people just to earn money by selling something (don't remember what it was) that makes so that you will wait, for example, 500 years less in the purgatory..
And just because something is a tradition doesn't mean that it's right.
So yeah, these are my opinions.

You are correct that the gospel and having faith in Jesus is what brings about salvation and anyone who doesn't believe/teach that is not a Christian. But where the different denominations come in is namely due to ignorance, sin and adding to the Word of God instead of taking out only what is in there. An example of adding something into Scripture that I see a lot of is people say it's a sin to minister to the opposite sex which is nowhere in Scripture. An example of sin is I have known church leaders who take advantage of passages saying to submit to leadership and abuse their power and use it to force and manipulate people to do and be whatever they want which gives the victims just cause and reason to leave. Another thing is people are very ignorant as to what the Bible really says which leads them to teach false doctrine. They forget that the Bible was originally written in Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic and even if the same English word is used in two different passages, the meaning can be totally different depending on the Hebrew/Greek/Aramaic word it originated from. Those who have studied and know about the translations and so forth know better and refuse to believe, practice or teach what they that are ignorant teach which causes a division. Each denomination has it's own Statement of Faith stating what they believe as a denomination so then anyone looking for a church can know what they will be taught at that type of church. Hope this helps. God bless you and Merry Christmas!

Gerard you ask a very good question. What may surprise you is a powerful indictment that Christ makes against modern day christianity. (Matthew 7:22 When the Judgment Day comes, many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord! In your name we spoke God's message, by your name we drove out many demons and performed many miracles!' Matthew 7:23 Then I will say to them, 'I never knew you. Get away from me, you wicked people!') God is not the author of confusion but there is much religious confusion today. A scripture that many do not understand is found here. (Revelation 12:9 The huge dragon was thrown out---that ancient serpent, named the Devil, or Satan, that deceived the whole world. He was thrown down to earth, and all his angels with him.) Satan began his deception in the garden of Eden and has not stopped down through the ages. Notice in the middle of the verse above it clearly states that satan has deceived the whole world. Christ strongly warned even the apostles about this... (Matthew 24:4 And Jesus answered and said to them: "Take heed that no one deceives you.) Now if Christ warned his apostles about this then what about the rest of us. There is a lot of religious deception out there and everyone says their church is the right one but is it ? Christ said that many on the judgement days would be rejected by him ! So can we say that most professing christians are deceived ? That is what Christ said ! Don't take my word for it... read Matthew 7:22-23 again. God does have a true church but you have to find it or ask God to show it to you.

There is division in the church cause its planned that way. Any guy who has his own definition of christianity makes his own church and registers it. I am an Evangelical and that doesnt effect my faith in Jesus. Its al about basing your faith on the word of God.
I believe in the foundation of Love and how it is dependant on keeping the greatest comandment in the bible. Jesus summed it up like this when His disciples asked Him what the greatest commandment was,
Matthew 22:36-40
New International Version (NIV)
36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b] 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

It is because there were disagreements about certain things concerning scripture, and also cheats, who wanted to have their own denomination so that the center of money, power, and attendance could be theirs.
There are few in many denominations who really take God to heart. Maybe one or two people in the churches where I live. The rest fall in line to the status quo. I can tell who they are because love goes right out the window, and they settle for a schism. I'm an outcast to three churches in my area. And only a couple people in what's thought to be a cultic Christian Church are actually happy to see me, and try to help me. The rest told me they loved me, but banned me from their church. They prove their dissention not so much towards me, but to God Himself.
John 15
12 "My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command."
They don't love me, and I would say that some of these people seek to figurately crucify me. I challenged their faith, and they failed. And get this; God put me up to it, and I still love them. I really do. That's how I know I'm not the pot calling the kettle "black". I'm not the hypocrite this time.

If we go back far enough Gerald, we find the answer in Gen. The History of God, and the Story of Us. Beyond how Adam and Eve were separated from God in this, we see them separating, then their offspring....in the story of Cain and Abel. WE don't know for certain how populated the earth was at this time... but we know it was more populated than these four people, as Cain was concerned others would slay him for murdering Abel... in this we can surmise, that doctrines were creeping into man's thinking... as Cain's offering was acceptable to him > in this we see perhaps that enough time had passed for schools of thought to divide not only these four, but all the descendants.
We see two offerings made to God, Cain's and Abel's. Once the fall happen in earth we see The Age of Division began. There was an immediate enmity that began in God's children... so simple when we think about this, when we accept what is written as Truth.
People since the fall many self made governing forces came into being ~ Asking God's Holy Spirit to help ascertain the truth, as well as studying will help one see, a more complete picture of God's truth... Personally, I am reminded that we only see in part... we need to Trust God, as our Sovereign Father, who will lead us out of error, giving us entrance into the chambers of His Divine Heart and Mind, overcoming contentious debates. God bless in your studies.

Many churches of different denominations work together and are not divided. Often people prefer a differing style f worship or they favour a certain style of preaching we should all major and what we agree on Salvation through Jesus only

A lot of the denominations are the result of someone insisting we surrender ourselves to THEM as well as to Jesus Christ.
Unity is a good thing, and I believe we can achieve it by reaching across denominational lines and other divisions to share our experience of God's love.
Uniformity, especially enforced uniformity, on the other hand, is not so much an expression of God's will as that of man.

Because its a loophole around the original rules. Different people tailor the religion to fit their lifestyle. It's a way of breaking the rules without 'technically' breaking the rules. Like the priests who wanted wives, or the people who wanted MORE wives, or the king who wasn't allowed to do this and that in his local church, so he started a new one because the old one had dumb rules.
Or some denominations are just that deluded into thinking that they're special'er than other denominations.

the whole big picture is is to worship God and Jesus, but each denomination has its own teachings. some teach the law of God, others teach grace and so forth
