Any one know any good books?

I luv books from the eighteen hundreds, I don't mean wrItten then, I mean books whose setting is in the eighteen hundreds

I also like books that have anything to do with sailing

I really liked the convicts and the true confessions of charlotte Doyle

I also read the hunger games, and Alex rider series, a series of unfortunate events

I started reading classics like David copperfield and Oliver Twist, but I stopped half way because they got boring at parts ( I tend to lose interest easily, don't hate )

I read the sisters Grimm, and the magic thief, harry potter ( its okay but I'm not into the whole magic thing)

I don't like extreme romance, but I don't mind a crush

I don't like vampires and werewolves

I know I'm picky, but idk, either I like a book or stop halfway

I also read the thirty nine clues two years back and the shadow children series

I also liked princess Miri, princess Ben, although the Ben one has a bit magic

I read more than these but these are the ones that I can remember cuz they made an impression on me

Sorry for all the pickiness but it'd be really great if u could suggest some

And leave a little summary if ur not that busy ( plz don't spoil it)

I like books where the main character struggles and has to face some one better, they go through some hard stuff like prison or something and make sum plan that fails and then defeat the bad guy

I'm also into princessy stuff, but not girly stuff like the candy apple books and not the percy jackson series

Ty, and sorry

Update:

i just found out the convicts is actually the first of a series

(the cannibals, and the castaways)

everyone put so much effort into answering this question, and i dont know who to choose best

ty again hmmmm

Evil seeks to end his life before his call can be fulfilled. Dragons, Grimmals, Shadow Vermin, and Seritheen pursue, as Zam moves beyond his fear into the battles he must face in hopes of freeing a friend, finding a love, and discovering a life larger than he ever dreamed possible. (thats from the book blurb)

I have the most absolute perfect book series. Here there be Dragons. It belongs to a series called the Chronicles of The Imaginarium Geographica. All books have their own amazing adventures. You have to pay very close attention to what you're reading though because in these books every little tiny ddetail matters and even comes back later in the story. They have action, adventure, comedy, and its major fantasy. The first book is Here, There Be Dragons. The second book is called The Search for the Red Dragon. The third one is The Indigo King. The Fourth one is The Shadow Dragons. The fifth one is The Dragon's Apprentice. The sixth one is called The Dragons of Winter. The seventh one is called The First Dragon. There's plenty of books to keep you busy and they have everything you asked for :)

    Great Expectations (true classic)

    House of Night Series

    Princess School

    Sweep Series by Cate Tiernan

Anything Scott Westerfeld. He is one of the few popular (well, reallysemi-popular) teen writers of today who actually writesdecent books. His books include:

    -The Uglies Series (HIGHLY recommended)

    -Peeps

    -Leviathan

    -The Midnighters

Another very good teen book is Magic or Madness by Justine Larbelestier.Extremely good book. Highly recommended.

Of course, if you haven't read the Harry Potter books yet, those are definitely worth your time (seeing the movies is NOT enough. Trust me. The movies are good, but they don't even hold a candle to the books. The first two are childish (but still brilliant), but from the third one on, you cannotcall it a purely children's series).

Incarceron by Catherine Fisher is really a great book. It's new, so many people do not know of it yet, but it's truly amazing.

Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere is not to be missed as well. Amazing, imaginative, and highly recommended.

My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picolt is amazing as well. This one's not fantasy, but it's heart touching andvery hooking. This is one great book.

I'm currently reading The Hunger Games, andI must say they are quite amazing. I'd recommend them, but I want to finishthem first. But at this point, A+!

-City of Ember. The movie pretty much sucked. However, the books are amazing. They are truly very good. I'd recommend them to you any day.

-Percy Jackson and the Olympians. These are a fun read. They aren't absolutely great books, but they arefun, and I'd recommend them.

-The Giver. If you have not read this yet, READ IT. This is one heck of a book.It is truly amazing. Just read it. You won't regret it.

-Kingdom Keepers. A fun read, and I rather liked it. I haven't read the second one yet. Butit was so good, I couldn't put it down!

-Peter and the Starcatchers. Same author as Kingdom Keepers (Ridley Pearson). It's basically how Peter Pan came to be. It has a few holes in it, but it is a whole lot of fun!

Most popular teen-reads nowadays are corny, have subliminal messages, and/or are poorly written with Mary Sue protagonists.

A few books to stayaway from at all costs:

    -The Twilight Saga

(Completely anti-feminist, makes abuse look romantic from psychological abuse (especially that one) to sexual abuse to physical abuse, it is poorly written, and the main character is horribly, utterly Mary Sue)

    -Need

    (A wannabe Twilight)

"The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" By Douglas Adams.

"Jonathon Livingstone Seagull" By Richard Bach.

I think you'd like The Inheritance Cycle series by Christopher Paolini. It starts with the book Eragon which you might have heard of then moves on to Eldest, Brisinger and finally Inheritance. The plot centres on Eragon who is orphaned and follows his struggle against the evil forces in the land where he lives. Mainly the evil king who has destroyed the once great land by killing the race of Dragons and their Riders, although some remain, Eragon being one of them. Throughout the books you will find many brilliant characters, dragons, elves, dwarves, who form the Varden who attempt to rise up and fight the evil king. Though it is not easy as they find many forces of evil lined up against them and eventually Eragon and his dragon become isolated with danger at every turn. Although they are aided along the way by friends and foe, not always human!

These books are full of fantasy and adventure, they are gripping and will have you laughing and crying alongside the characters you'll come to love. Try looking them up online and finding out more about them.

The Missing series is really good. I think the first book is called Found. It is written by the same author as the shadow children series.

I like Regency romance stories. Good authors are Mary Balogh, Carla Kelly, and Barbara Metzger. Some of the other Regency authors write excessively "sensual" stories.
