what are the duties & responsibilities of mortgage assistants ? help?

The mortgage assistant in our office does appointment scheduling, answering phone or walk in questions, some filing, keeping track of supplies & forms, making sure mortgage officers have everything in order to do their job. You need to be organized, well informed of the office rules and procedures, be able to handle the stress, good at interacting with all types of people, legible handwriting, and generally be able to learn new tasks and information quickly. As an assistant, the main job is to assist...to make the mortgage professionals job easier.

Depends on how much the loan officer will want you to do. It could be a matter of some typing/data entry, filing, putting files together for him (in order), photocopies to send to the bank, returning phone calls, follow up with banks/title companies, things like that. If he/she has a processor, the tasks could be simple. If they don't you could be doing a lot of things a processor would do, lots of follow up phone calls to check on this or that and giving status updates. Hope it helps
