Resident Evil: Retribution... You honest opinion?

How did you like it? I ask this because everyone in my family opened 1 Christmas present tonight. Like I'm sure many did. My present was Resident Evil: Retibution on DVD combo packaged with the original Resident Evil. I love the series as a whole. Personally Resident Evil: Apocalypse is still my favorite. I was expecting this latest film to be God-awful and to be honest. It was a step up in my opinion from the previous two films. The first two films were great. The third film was good but not as much as the first two. And the fourth film was terrible. So I didn't see the newest one in theaters earlier this year. I just finished watching it with the family. And to be honest it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Not quite on par with the first two films or even the third. But loads better then the fourth film. After the fourth film I seriously wanted the series to end. It seemed Anderson and Jovovich had run the franchise into the ground. That the only reason they made more was because no other filmmaker in Hollywood was stupid enough to hire Jovovich, she can't act her way out of a paper bag. But she'd be a good stunt woman. But after watching Retribution, I'm willing to give them another shot. Anderson is planning two more films that will wrap up the series and then Sony says they're rebooting the franchise to follow the games closer. So lets see if Anderson and Jovovich can atleast end on a high note.

    Another one bit the dust...

Today, Satan and the demons influence people’s thinking through movies, books, and electronic games that promote occult practices. When selecting entertainment, therefore, each of us should ask himself: ‘Over the past months, have I chosen to be entertained by films, TV programs, electronic games, books, or comics that feature uncanny practices? Do I understand the importance of rejecting occult influences, or do I downplay these dangers? Have I even considered how God might feel about my choice of entertainment? If I have opened the door to such satanic influences, will my love for God and his righteous principles impel me to act decisively and slam that door shut?’—Acts 19:19, 20.

Involvement with the occult is commonplace in many lands. Belief in the supernatural is becoming more popular, and people are increasingly drawn to it. Books, games, television shows, and movies that feature demons, witchcraft, and paranormal phenomena are more widespread than ever.

The Bible, however, teaches that involvement with any manifestation of the occult is actually spiritism. Spiritism is not innocent or harmless fun. It is not simply exploring the unknown. It is contact with demons, wicked angels who rebelled against God.—Revelation 12:9, 12.

In reality, spiritism does for the demons what lures do for fishermen. A fisherman uses a variety of lures to catch different kinds of fish. Similarly, wicked spirits use different forms of spiritism to bring all sorts of people under their influence. The leader of the demons is referred to as “the god of this [wicked] system of things.” He is successful at blinding the minds of unbelievers to the truth of God’s Word and purpose.—2 Corinthians 4:4.

Although there is a difference between actually practicing spiritism and watching it, that surely does not mean that watching occult practices poses no danger. Why not? Consider this: God’s Word indicates that neither Satan nor his demons have the ability to read our thoughts. Thus, as mentioned earlier, to find out what we are thinking and to detect any spiritual weakness in us, wicked spirits have to observe closely our actions—including our choice of entertainment. When a Christian’s behavior shows that he enjoys movies or books that center on spirit mediums, magic spells, acts of demon possession, or similar demonistic subjects, he is sending a message to the demons. In effect, he is alerting them to his weak spot! In response, the demons could intensify their wrestling with that Christian in order to exploit the weakness he has revealed until they have pinned him down, so to speak. In fact, some whose interest in spiritism was first piqued by entertainment that prominently featured the occult have eventually become involved in actually practicing spiritism.—Galatians 6:7.

Satan tries to exploit not only our desire for entertainment but also our need for health care. How? A Christian whose health is failing despite numerous efforts to find a cure may become despondent. (Mark 5:25, 26) That can provide Satan and the demons with a favorable opportunity to exploit him. They well know that God’s Word warns against seeking “the assistance of those practicing what is hurtful.” (Isaiah 31:2) To make a Christian go against that warning, the demons may tempt an ailing one to turn in desperation to treatments or procedures that involve the use of “uncanny power,” or spiritism—something very hurtful. If that crafty act of the demons succeeds, it could weaken the ailing one’s relationship with God.

    Hope it will help!
