is my camera okay? am i doing something wrong?

I just got a fotodiox macro extension tube kit from amazon. i attached it fine (i saw a youtube video on how to attach the same exact kind that i bought) so that was okay. but when i turn my camera on it says LENS NOT ATTACHED. i know the extension tube is supposed to go on first, then the lens..but i just wanted to know if i did anything wrong..could anyone explain? thanks!

My suspicion is that the extension tube set is not compatible with the lens. All lenses today have electronic contacts that "speak" to the cameras body. So unless you are able to set the f/stop someway on the lens-you are sunk!

I agree, that extension tube doesn't work with your camera. The extension tube must have exactly the same contacts as does the lens and body. If the camera can't "see" the lens electronically it can't work. Sorry you bought the wrong thing it appears.

Set camera to manual mode. Your tube probably does not have the automatic linkages.
