According to the scriptures, sex is for the purpose of both pleasure and procreation. Paul speaks about how the husband and the wife both on their part should pay attention to the other and be accommodating both to their need for sex and also the need not for - in other words, be considerate.

Then there is the detail of the woman's monthly. She should not be having sexual intercourse when on her period. That should not prevent other kinds of attention as love is much more than sex.

As a marriage matures over the decades, there can be a tendency on occasion where the woman forgets that sex is the glue of marriage that is truly needed. If a considerate husband gets turned aside repeatedly for no special reason except the famous 'headache', should not surprise any when he one is found to have gone to other watering places easier to drink from.

So when the newness has worn off - and work, children intrude seriously on the free time available, then things become a balancing act that at times need patience and endurance from both parties.
