Mispelling of my name of my SSN card?
I got my ssn card a few days ago and they misspelled my middle name wrong. I am planning on taking it to get it fixed and I want to know what do you need to take as proof of my name spelled correctly and how long will it take to get it fixed?
Vic: I live in California. I went in on November 21st and got it last Friday I think? Some take longer than others because my neighbor got it a week after he applied. I guess it depends on which is reviewed first? You can also call and give them your case number. They told me that it would take 2-6 weeks and you're definately past that so I recommed you call.

before you sign it off, you should always double check to make sure they spell the name correctly.
anyway, bring in the card back to Social Security office with your son's birth certificate. Tell them they mispelled his name and it'll get correct. Takes about a week or two usually to get another card. it's easy, just like getting married and changing your name on the social security card.

Well although I don't know how long it will take, you may need to present a birth certificate, or a document from DHS that has your full name on it. By the way, what state do u live in? I been waiting since October 19th for my ssn. I saw that you got it in a month.

My guess is that you would only need your birth certificate and your driver's license since it is only a typo.
