My best advice for you this upcoming (and every) offseason is to eat healthy, exercise by doing weight lifting, and either jogging or going for a long run every day. If you do these things, you will get faster, stronger, and into better shape, which will greatly improve your chances of becoming a successful, top notch middle linebacker in football.

Ray Lewis ran a 4.4 out of college, but many good linebackers have has less than that. The difference from D-line to upright linebacker is you have to be able to go backwards. Bob Lilly was a Cowboys hall of famer who was originally a linebacker, but he couldn't run backwards, so he was a DT. So, before you do anything, you should check and make sure you can go backwards just as fast as forwards, and not just focus on whats in front of you. You have to be aware of everything. Another would to run short sprints and parachute sprints to improve overall speed. Another thing to do is watch highlights of Dick Butkus, the best MLB to ever play. Study the way he avoided blocks and read plays. If you do these things, you will be a fine linebacker.

practice once a day, with H.I.F.T (high intensity football training). do workouts specifically designed for a linebacker but instead of doing it for hours at a time, your overall training workouts should last no longer than 1 hour sessions. also every other day you should be lifting weights, either at your house, your school, or a nearby gym. instead of doing sets of 10, do sets of 5-6 reps of heavy weigh to help be a lot stronger. never do sets of 10+ because its going to slim you down and you will only get endurance. doing these 2 things will help you become a better MLB
