Are these downloads free and virus-safe? If not, another good one for music recording?

I'm going to download Audacity and FL Studio. Will they screw up my computer? I mean, I literally just got it today so it needs some software, but I *really* don't want to hurt it! D: I already have Mixcraft on my old computer and it proved to be safe and truthfully free, but it's not what I'm looking for- it uses my laptop mic, (which sucks) and I want to be able to plug in my instruments and play.

So what I'm really asking is- are Audacity and FLStudio free, virus-safe, and able to connect to instruments? What I want is something as close to GarageBand as possible for PC's.

    Hi there.

If you really want to get started making music, delete mixcraft and definitely download FL. It is safe, but just be careful if your using a cracked version. However, overtime if you do not have an external hard drive it will use up a lot of memory on your computer, so check how much available space you have. Also, if your looking to perfect your vocals, get either pro tools or adobe audition. Those are two great programs I have used for a while now to record my vocals and they usually come out crispy clean :-). But for making beats, FL is great for both beginners and nonbegginers music-making-wise. You are able to create almost anything you want if you know how. (If you want to get good it's going to take time and watching a lot of YouTube tutorials lol). Have fun!

Oh and you can connect instruments you just need the right equipment:)

    Well good luck to you!

Mixcraft can record from any Windows-compatible microphone, you just need to click on the little arrow next to the Arm button on an audio track to arm that track for the other microphone.

There are a bunch of good Mixcraft tutorial videos here:

It relies upon on what variety of music you like. iTunes has podcasts that grant loose songs. indie feed is a huge one. you won't no any of the artists, yet you will discover some great ones. It delivers self sustaining digital, hip-hop, option/modern rock, pop, and spoken word tracks. You get a clean music approximately the different day, and there's a speedy spoken intro and a sprint info on the artist on the tip. There are different podcasts like this obtainable, yet this one is my own fav.
