What's your favorite thing about your barn?
This is mostly aimed towards people who lesson or board, not private barn owners. What's your favorite thing? Is there a picture display, or a boot washing rack, or... what? Small things, big things, a list of things, whatever.
I'll (hopefully) be managing a small (eight full stalls plus one pasture horse) lesson/boarding barn this year. There's things I like and things I don't, but I also want to do nice things that aren't necessary but kinda give the place life.
Any ideas?
Also, BQ, if you were planning a party for kids ages 6-13 at a barn, what activities come to mind?

I have a couple things.
1) It is far enough off the road, but right next to the gas station.
2) Good sized indoor arena
3) Wooded trails
4) Few boarders, all very nice people
5) Heated wash racks
6) HEATED AND AIR CONDITIONED BATHROOM
BQ: The barn I used to work for started hosting childrens parties towards the end of my employment there (left on good terms btw, just found a different job that offered better pay and a shorter drive). We did "pony" rides (used the older lesson horses) in the outdoor arena, rented a bounce house, and provided drinks and snacks. We never did any sort of hide-and-seek or scavenger hunts due to our area having copper head snakes and we didn't want to risk a kid sticking their hand somewhere where a baby snake might be hiding while searching for something on their list.

The barn I board at has a HUGE pasture that includes a big lake and extends into so of their surrounding woods. It is horse paradise! Since I am the only Jumper at the barn (western and trail barn that is a guest ranch) and one of only 5 boarders, I basically have their big arena all to myself. Jumps and all. Also, the people are so friendly! They have given me a great job too. The barn is always so clean too. I also have peace of mind that my horse will be well taken care of when I am away. I love my barn!
BQ: If they have never ridden before, pony rides would be awesome! You could also do some horse themed arts and crafts and a scavenger hunt.

I love the barn I work/ride at now because...
-the laid-back attidude (its not snooty or snobby)
-the horses get to be in pastures on all day turn out (everything is more green or natural-the "green approach"- as far as medicine and stuff maybe its just me but its healthier but it depends what kind of horses you have)
-pictures of the owner/manager with their horses or growing up or just any picture that would make you feel closer to them, up in the tack room or office
-cute signs like "im so tired, i dont know if i lost my horse or found a rope" or "he knows when your happy, he knows when you confident, he know when you are upset, and he ALWAYS know when you have carrots" and others like that
-festiveness... put lights up on the outside of the barn or wreaths on the doors, bows on stall doors and such

I love my barn because we have amazing horses, we even have a few movie star horses! I also love most of the people there. We're very supportive of each other and will always lend a helping hand (:

BQ: I automatically think of a circus aha (: Everybody performs tricks with a horse or pony. Then the little kids get pony rides, and if you jump, do chase me charlie. Dress up (both horses and humans) like clowns and zebras (:

Having to trek up an icy muck heap in the winter. I slipped while everyone was watching and landed face-first in the full barrow -.- Favorite would be being alone in the field with the horses, and just riding around bareback. My yard only has 3 boarders, me and my 2 friends. When they're not there in the afternoon everything is just so peaceful.

We have a round barn that is pretty sweet. As far as the 6-13 barn party have mutton busting and a mechanical bull.

Well I love everything at my barn, but there is a sign with all of the rules on it, and rule number 7 is: "All children left unattended will receive a cappuccino and a free puppy."
Defiantly, my favourite! :)
