on CNN they had 10 greatest science discoveries of 2012..i caught the last bit of #7.. What was about the big?

bang theory...something about a proton...they were able to prove something

    According to a quick Google search, the Higgs boson has not yet been discovered! They did find something, some particle that is consistent with the Higgs... but it has not been confirmed. So... saying it exists for certain is a bit premature.

    The Big Bang theory has had overwhelming support for decades. NOTHING they come up with in 2012 will "prove" it further.
