NEED A DECENT CONVERTER FOR SONY CYBERSHOT DSC WX9 CAN'T VIEW ANY MOVIES I TAKE ON COMPUTER?

I HAVE POSTED A QUESTION ABOUT THIS IN HERE BEFORE. I DOWNLOADED A PROGRAM, AND SURE IT WORKED, BUT A LITTLE CONE SHOWED UP IN ALL THE VIDEOS WITH A DISCLAIMER IN AT THE BOTTOM OF THE DVD, AND IT WAS HORRIBLE AND EMBARRASSING, and took forever. Another one was choppy. . THE third ONE CHOPPED EVERYTHING OFF AND TOOK FOREVER.

THIS CAMERA IS ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. AND ITS BEEN A NIGHTMARE. TAKES GREAT PICTURES THOUGH

ALL THE VIDEO FILES SHOW UP ON THE CAMERA AND PLAY, ON THE COMPUTER THEY HAVE AN MTS EXTENSION, BUT WILL NOT PLAY. NOTHING SEEMS TO WORK ON ANY TYPE OF COMPUTER, NEW OR NOT.

I DON'T GET IT.

I HAD TO GO TO A CAMERA PLACE, AND THEY CHARGED ME $35 FOR 5 MINUTE OF VIDEO, I AM GIVING THIS ONE LAST SHOT TO THE COMMUNITY.

.

MY OLD CYBERSHOT GOT STOLEN, AND IT WAS A GEM TO WORK WITH.

I JUST WANT A GOOD CONVERTER...

IF THERE IS A SEPARTATE BOX, OR ANOTHER PIECE OF EQUIPMENT TO BUY, I WOULD EVEN CONSIDER THAT...I AM AT MY WITS END...I NEED TO MAKE VIDEOS AND CONVERT THEM TO DVD.

OH AND DVD FLICK IS A JOKE.

I am just frustrated....thats why everything is in Caps.

Okay, go to the Sony website and download the "PlayMemories" software, it should enable you to create playable files and DVDs from the movies you've created. There may still be the issue that if your computer is slow it will not be able to play the video if has not been processed in advance.

    You have some problems.

That mts extension, it seems to me, is exclusive to Sony so I'm not surprised it won't play. You didn't mention the type or age of your computer and that could have a bearing as well.

When I converted to HD video I also had to upgrade my computer - not cheap, so I could run and edit

my .mov videos because my old computer wouldn't run or edit them. In fact, now that I think of it,

that could be your entire problem - your computer's age. By the way I'm not sure a converter would help much because when you do that you give up your true HD quality especially if you have to convert to wmv. I know because that's how I started with HD and was very disappointed with the conversion results.

The camera does what it does regardless of the computer you're using but technology has changed a lot since the down of HD video. Converting to HD isn't cheap or easy.

Have you tried playing your video on a Windows 7 computer, the newest generation, Windows 8, should also play them. If they work there then that's your problem.

    Good luck.
