Advice on buying a camera ?
I finally raised up some money to buy a good camera. All I know is that I should look for higher MP but now apparently MP doesn't matter as much, so I thought I'd ask for help, I would like to make a good choice. I've heard of the Canon Powershot and the Nikon Coolpix and the Sony Cyber-Shot and the Samsung Dualview or other cameras. SLR cameras are too expensive, I need a camera that is $200 or lower, any recommendations please ? Too many brands and models and I am not very savvy on photography, so I'd like some help. I'll be using this camera probably to take family photos, self-portraits to edit on Photoshop, profile pictures, etc. What would you recommend ?

For under $200- you can buy a Fuji bridge camera. As with almost all point and shoots this type of camera will not do well in dim light without flash.
But these cameras have decent battery life. They have lots of zoom. You have a choice of leaving camera on "auto" or learn how to use shutter speeds/apertures. They have a viewfinder where should you shoot telephoto, you can brace your camera against your cheek for steadiness. You need steadiness for long shots.
