Jehovah's Witnesses is this honest?

I have noticed a number of questions being asked by Jehovah's Witnesses where answers which are in context and give an answer from Scripture are ignored and instead a trite reply which agrees with their opinions is given best answer. My main question is this; Is this what your God expects of his witnesses, that you ignore Scripture and only give best answer to people who are also Jehovah's Witnesses?

1 Corinthians 3:4 For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I [am] of Apollos; are ye not carnal?

Update:

Oh dear Sara, are you now policing my questions? I guess I can tell they are Jehovah's Witnesses when they link to Jehovah's Witnesses sites and they promote Jehovah's Witnesses instead of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Update 2:

♥ Zebra Stripes~Stunningly, I agree completely with the Scripture you have used, - a double edged sword?

Update 3:

MICHAEL R, I appreciate what you do, sadly they no longer call at my door as They cannot answer truthfully the questions I ask, if it is not part of what they have studied from the WBTS then they haven't a clue. Last time they started telling me about the indefinite Greek article, so I got my Greek New Testament down and asked them to show me why it was not used in John 1:18 either and yet that was also translated God? I only asked this question after the older one insisted he knew Greek,as I did not want to embarrass him. He couldn't even recognize the book of John in Greek.

Update 4:

Lone Dissenter 4 A Piercing Ligh..., You are in a minority. I once answered a question asked by a Jehovah's Witness and although I didn't believe in voting, going to war, nor celebrate christmas or easter, which was part of the answer, I received 17 thumbs down because i Started my reply with, "I answer as a Christian and not a Jehovah's Witness ...." My answer was almost identical to a number of replies yet I received 17 thumbs down and not a single thumbs up, the other almost identical replies were in double figures for thumbs up with 0 thumbs down.

Update 5:

Terry, I will only give a best answer to the answer which best answers the question, but I must admit that an answer which gives scriptural content is looked at in a more favourable light if it is in context, I also look for originality rather than cut and paste.

Update 6:

Q&A Queen, I agree with what you have to say concerning 1 John 5:7, which is one reason why I would refer to John 20: 28-29 concerning Jesus Christ's deity. (but then I am a trained Bible translator and understand textural criticism)

Update 7:

Abi, Maybe.

Update 8:

Lizzy, I am interested in truth not the politicking they seem to do.

What you have experienced is there stock and trade its called "intellectual dishonesty" .

Their faith is so frail, flimsy and false that it can't stand up to any intelligent scrutiny . They are trained

directly by there governing body elites not to engage opposers/critics in reasoned conversation .

Here's a quote from their Watchtower mag.

What is involved in avoiding false teachers? We do not receive them into our homes or greet them. We also refuse to read their literature, watch TV programs that feature them, examine their Web sites, or add our comments to their blogs. Why do we take such a firm stand? Because of love. We love “the God of truth,” so we are not interested in twisted teachings that contradict his Word of truth.

@ Carl: Not all responses that include scriptures are actually scriptural. A clear example of that is during a discussion of the Trinity teaching. Among the scriptures used as "proof" of the accuracy of the teaching is 1 John 5:7. It is, the claim goes, a definitive text because it says, after citing the father, son and the holy spirit ... "and these three are one". Here is the problem. Bible scholars agree that that phrase was not part of the original text. You can learn more about that by Googling "Comma Johaneum". So, how could we give best answer to one that is clearly not scriptural. That said, I have occasionally given best answer to a contradictory reply based on how well and thoughtfully the response is written.

People tend to choose best answers that agree with their own thinking. Ever wonder why atheists never pick a best answer from among those posted by believers... no matter how irrefutable the logic? The old cliche about "birds of a feather" comes to mind. LOL

Thank you for your question. Do have a good evening.

@chris - Thank you for your additional question. First, let me address the issue of Christ's divinity. Jehovah's Witnesses do not deny that. In fact, in one of the Messianic prophecies ... At Isaiah 9 (the exact verse escapes me at the moment), one of the titles given to him would be Mighty God. Do notice thought it is not Almighty God. As for Thomas's exclamation ... What do many of us say when we are faced suddenly with something startling? Isn't it OH MY LORD or OH MY GOD?

My Carl, are you the police of Answers? I think what ever people want to write, answer and choose as best answer is their own decision. Some muslims ask questions, answer them and then choose their own answer. Maybe you missed that?

How do you know they are still Jehovah's Witnesses? How do you know who this person iis? A child? This is an open forum and no one should be hampered in the way they answer. It is to be what they want to say and from the heart. Maybe give lot's of consideration to your answers and allow people to do the same.

Well, my mom is a Jehovah's Witness and thats how she's been raising me so far. From the 15 years of experience I've had, they have always said that a witness should not use only his/her opinion, or even use his own opinion as rarely as possible when answering questions because the whole point is to use the bible and not your own understanding. I mean, not everyone is the same tho, and most of the religion is up to your own decisions and interpertations. Your gonna meet a couple people that don't really give a sh*t. It's not a cult, not everyones the same man.

when i am asked to choose I choose what i will, if everyone did well, I still choose whom I will, and sometimes i leave it for others to choose. I do notice as you say, choosing each other, but we do not seem to do it anymore or less than other people at least that is my opinion.Proverbs 17:"3 The refining pot is for silver and the furnace for gold, but Jehovah is the examiner of hearts."

Wow does it really matter who gets best answer to a question? Is this some sort of a contest that you need to win? Sorry, I don't understand the type of people who make everything a competition.

I give "best answers" to the answers that are close to the Bible teaching ! Can't be helped if the best ones tend to be from JW's !

Bet you give the best answer to the ones who agrees with you the most, what say thee ?

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Eph 3:1

It is your opinion that they ignore the good answers and pick best answers that don't deserve it. They would probably disagree with you. I guess that the one who submits the question can decide which answer to pick. Maybe you will pick a best answer to this question and I won't agree with it.

  • I tend to give BA to JW's because they usually are the only ones who give scriptural & accurate answers but I also give BA's to non JW's if I feel people have given scriptual answers even if I don't agree . Usually I will state I do not agree in that case & say Thanks.
