Is second bachelors or a masters degree better for a career change to computer science?

I have a bachelors in biology right now and was thinking of a career change because its very difficult to find a job. I took an intro to C/C++ class as part of my pre-req, but thats as much programming experience I have. I was thinking of switching to Computer science but is not sure what path to take considering I have a BS already.

Thank you in advance!

Most IT businesses look for graduates with IT related degrees. If you want to go into Programming you will need a Bachelors degree in Computer Science as a minimum.

A few years ago I was in a similar situation as you and had a Bachelors degree in Advertising. I discovered a local college that offered what is called a "degree completion program". These programs are primarily designed for people with 2 year Associates degrees or people with a few college credits who never completed their Bachelors degree and graduated. What I found is they would let me reuse my first two years of general course credits from my Advertising and then I would take 2 years of courses in 14 months to get my Bachelors in Computer Information Systems. You could check around and see if you can find a similar Computer Science offering. At the end of the 14 months I was issued a second Bachelors in CIS and in some schools I'm told it is not a second degree but a dual major so you might graduate with a dual major in Chemistry and CS. In either case it looks the same to an employer and will fulfill their requirement of a Bachelors degree in a technical Computing major.

    Best wishes!

I believe a bachelors is better. I have a Masters in Information Systems and it so broad-brushed, I feel that a bachelors would have made me a better programmer initially. I wish that I would have gotten a B.S. in Computer Science with a minor or double major in math.

I have taken some microsoft sanctioned certification training to help, but I wish I would have gotten a computer science degree first.

I would say go for both,if time is what you could have. Does your school offer a double primary ? Journalism & Humanities, personally, go hand in hand. The human at all times will preserve us in guess all of the at the same time seeking to be worked on in life, as computers provide us skills in science, nonetheless you can't have the identical kind of human contact sitting in the back of a computer screen at all times.
