I have read a book which says Japanese is a very unique language which requires us to use a different part of our brain to learn. Some people say that we use our 'left brain' in language but Japanese use their 'right brain' in language. I am not sure whether this theory has been proved, but I do think Japanese is a more difficult language than German if you are an English native speaker :)

i do know in order to read even the most basic Japanese you need to memorize at least 3000 kanji and thats just basic school grade education called joyou kanji not even high school or college grade reading. German would be much easier in that regard.

It really depends on your mother tongue. Since English and German share the same origin, you will surely learn German much quicker provided that your mother tongue is English or any language which shares its origin with German.
