My brand new computer downloads very slowly?

I just got my Alienware x51 a couple days ago, and its download speed is terrible! It took more than 8 hours to download one steam game, and my other game is still only at 64%. Online flash games and whatnot take over 5 minutes to load. I'm not sure what the exact download rate is. (no idea how to determine it) So how do I fix this? Is it really a problem with malicious files, because I just got it!

I highly doubt it's that computers problem. It's probably you ISP's (Internet Service Provider) problem. It also depends on the size of the game you downloaded from Steam. What are your download speeds? You can go to " http://www.speedtest.net/ " to check your DL/UP speed. Also, you can contact your ISP and increase your download speed if it's slow.

It is most likely a problem with your Internet. Try using a speed test website to see how fast your connection and or computer can upload or download files

It's propably your internet connection. If you have cable internet, if other computers within the house are connected, the internet speed can become slow.

Also if other houses in the neighborhood have cable internet as well, the internet speed will be slower.

You may also want to disable any toolbars that are unecessary.

You may have a problem with your internet service provider. You can check your upload/download speeds by going to this link:

I don't think that you have a problem with your computer, just your internet connection or speeds.
