throbbing pain in lower back by sciatic nerve after chriopractor adjustment?

i have had back pain for 3 weeks now- my doctor assumed it was a slipped disc so put me on pain killers. i started seeing a chiropractor who did the hammer thing in places on my back and the massage with those little tabs they put on you...he had x rays done and says no disc is herniated or bulging. i told him i dont mind him cracking my back, i was thinking i would get relief from it. well last night i had throbbing pain to the right of my lower back, by disc L-5 (where he said the inflammation was) but not down the leg. just right there in my back. i haven't taken painkillers in a week, only advil every day still because the inflammation is STILL there. but last night i had to take codeine because the pain was intense and it didn't even really help till 2 am. now i'm worried i've made my condition worse by letting the chiro crack my back. i also had some tingling, nerve sensations in my left leg night that i've never had. i assume this too is from my visit with him. i see him again today and will bring all of this up but i am wondering if anyone out there knows if this is normal and will pass or could my chiro be wrong about my diagnosis?

I would see your regular doctor to get this checked out. It may be that the sciatic nerve is pinched. Check here. There are a number of suggestions to help with sciatica. As weird as it sounds, the tennis ball technique has often helped me with sciatica.

I have experienced several severe bouts of pinched sciatica: One instance, as luck....I should say unluck, I was forced to ride my bike 1 1/2 miles to work cuz my car broke down. I did that for a week and my back pain subsided. Another time, I went to a physical therapist and did some stretching exercises. I would lay on my back, bend leg, and pull the other knee toward my chest. Switch. Each time I visited I was able to pull the legs closer to the chest and the pain went away. **I think some Pilates exercises might help** I've tried muscle relaxers but they just made me 'high' and unable to work. I do take Ibus though if I'm in discomfort and that works. I also put the heating pad on my lower back for 20 minutes at a time over 2 hours, as needed. I haven't had severe pain in about a year. That was due to mopping at my job when I hadn't been conditioned for it. I was hurting the next day. I saw the therapist due to a work related injury. Hope my info helped and wasn't something you already knew.

that's why i told you before to see an hio method chiropractor, which you obviously didn't do. if there is in fact disc inflammation the area should be left alone. the cause of the problem isn't there anyway, it's in your upper neck. next time listen up.
