A tear filled poem... let me know what you think.?
I am involved in a German Shepherd Rescue. We often get dogs in that are so aggressive from abuse that we cannot re-home them. They have to be put to sleep. This is a poem for "Jake", I only spent 6 hours with him but he truly touched my heart. What do you think? I know it is not perfect.
As I cross over the bridge
with the help of a human hand,
I look back on my life
and I don't understand.
I was small and cute
a bundle of joy,
As I grew older
you called me "bad boy".
You spoke in a language
I did not understand,
"Bad boy" seemed great
then I was hit with your hand.
I would scream at you
and tell you NO,
You told me I was stupid
and I needed to go.
I feel afraid now
and all alone,
And that kid tried to hurt me
at my other home.
In a box on the road
they took me away,
I have to protect myself
from those human hands.
They reach in and
start moving me around,
My god what's happening
I want to go home!
Stay away
I don't want to go,
Don't take me back
you just don't know.
I am fighting for my life
my language you don't understand,
I have been hurt over and over
by those same human hands.
Please stop now,
just let me be,
You would understand
if you were me.
I am feeling sleepy
and it's kind of good,
It doesn't hurt anymore
like you told me it would.
Now I feel it's time to go
I will walk over the bridge nice and slow,
I can hear them tell me
"the humans are nice here", hurry up and go.
Do you really think
there is a human for me?
There are so many
I am afraid you see.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU
I hope you understand,
I am running to my human
She's the one with no hands.
I won't look back
My best friend is near,
This is my dogs life
I am finally here!!

that is so sweet it really did bring a tear to my eye I have volunteered in a shelter before and I felt bad because some dogs would come in and they were in such bad shape I think this is a good poem for those dogs that have been treated so terrible and when they get to where they can be safe they are so beat up and scared there is no saving them from their own self destruction because of all of the pain they have been put threw they only know aggression so this is a great way to explain it
