When my wife died, did this drop all of her kin from being an in-law to me?

The reasoning for this is based on my wedding vow of "until death due us part". I am no longer considered to be married and am considered to be a widower now.

Update:

Glad to hear that some were lucky enough to marry into families who were worth keeping in contact with but this was definately not the situation in my case. My wife's family was like going to a hockey game to watch a fight. Nope, my in-laws were definately not the loveable type and i don't miss them one bit.

  • Yes, you are a widower. Whether you are still legally related to the rest of her family depends on the circumstances and the state Probably not, but incest laws can vary.

THey are still your in-laws. That only changes with divorce.

Don't cut them out of your life. You have the love of your life in common.
