Bizarro Sephiroth help...?

Im playing FF 7 and I have to battle bizarro sephiroth. I know by reading walkthoughs that i will be able to create a party of 3. Does this mean that I have to switch out my teams 3 times and battle bizarro sephiroth 3 times? Or can i just stick to cloud's main party and kill him? Further more i dont have knights of the round materia. Its just way too much work to do.

Whether you have 1, 2, or 3 parties fighting him depends on a variety of factors, including how many optional characters you have recruited, your average party level, and how quickly you defeat the boss right before Bizarro. The more power you seem to have from these factors, the more parties you are forced to use.

Basically, Bizzaro Sephiroth has like 5 body parts: Left Arm, Right Arm, Head, Torso, and Core. The Core is what you have to ultimately kill to win, but is only vulnerable when all 4 other parts are dead, but those 4 other parts also regenerate from being killed after some time. If you get a 1-party fight, your 3 characters can hit all the parts, making it the easiest way to fight it. In a 2-party fight, one set of three characters ca hit everything but the Left Arm while the other set of three characters can hit everything except the Right Arm. In a 3-Party fight, one party can only hit the Left Arm and Core, a second party can only hit the Right Arm and Core, and the thrid party can only hit the Head, Torso, and Core. Basically, the idea is that potentially you are fighting Bizzaro Sephiroth with all 8 possible party members simultaneously (but the game engine doesn't technically allow this, so the multiple party fight was Square's workaround). These aren't separate fights; you switch between parties whenever you wish, basically changing where the fight is focused. But each character can only be in one of the parties, and you get not change to switch equipment between characters when you switch to a different party.

The trick to killing Bizarro Sephiroth quickly is to ignore what the game suggests. Each time you "change parties", the MOFO actually gets healed. It's much easier to just send one party with your 3 best characters loaded to the nines (instead of parceling out your gear among 9 people and having 3 weaker parties) .

Its been awhile since I've played the game, so I can't remember if there's an option to go it "alone" before you fight him or if they FORCE you to make 3 parties (if so, just say no every time it offers to switch you over), but beyond that, killing him is pretty easy. Do the following:

Start the battle by casting Haste on everyone, and then opening fire with all of your strongest "hit all" attacks (usually the Bahamut summons family, Ultima, Hades, etc among others in a typical non-KotR game). Your goal is to kill all of his body parts at the same time, or close to, so that you can expose the "core" (the typically untargetable stone looking sphere at the base of the monster). Core is only vulnerable when everything else is at 0 HP, and they regen when you switch parties. Note though that if you DO switch after hurting the core, the core itself won't get healed.

So once you spam your hit all magics and expose the core, it's actually pretty weak (again, I don't remember offhand exactly how much HP it has, but it's not much. Maybe 20k). Once you kill the core, the battle ends and it's time to fight Safer Sephiroth, the game's much less pita final battle.

Don't worry about Knights at all. It's not even remotely necessary unless you're going after Emerald and Ruby (and even then, there's STILL stronger attacks if you exploit some glitches).
