What are my rights here?

I've been planning a fundraiser for the last 10 months. Last February, I booked the venue for this coming March (the event is in about 3 months).

Today, I looked at the venue's online event calendar and noticed that my event had been taken off, and there was another put on for the same day as my event.

I immediately called and left a message for the owner, and sent an e-mail as well. He told me that it had been double booked and there wasn't anything he could do.

I assume I will get my money back, but I have paid for a DJ, entertainment, countless raffle prizes, tickets (which I have also sold lots of already)... will the owner be liable for these costs as well?

So enraged..

What is in your contract? Didn't read it? Read it now. Don't have one? Oops, too bad.

I don't think any rights apply, but there are probably some state laws that you can utilize, depending upon which state this took place in.
