How do I reformat my Macbook Pro?

I just bought a macbook pro from a distant friend of a friend who I don't really talk to and I can't figure out how to reformat everything so it is like brand new. I want to delete EVERYTHING and it keeps asking me for an administrator password. How do I delete everything and start fresh without a disc?

You can buy a Snow Leopard disk from Apple for $19.99. http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-1...

Once you have a disk, if you can't get the password, put the disk into the computer, then shut it down. Restart and hold down the letter C to get it to boot from the install disk. When you get to the gray screen with the Apple logo let go of the C key, select your language and continue until it asks you to pick the drive. Select Mac Hard drive option then check erase and install and go on from there. Good luck.

You need the owners admin password and an installation disc.

You should contact your friend of a friend forthwith...
