Cant make my original wow account a battlenet account?

I have an original world of warcraft login name, created when wow came out so the login name is not even an email yet. I was wondering how I can merge this account into a battlenet account. I have a level 70 and really wanted to get back into playing it please help. Thanks

    I think you need to make battle.net account first

    then link your WoW account to it
