why does shaving irritate my neck?

ive just started shaving for the first time and its made my neck sore and red, is this usual? im using an electric razor, phillips close shave.

    because it is your first time probably. youl get used to it. Use creams specifically designed for after shaving discomfort to alleviate the irritation.
