I totally agree with legalizing prostitution, but keeping regulated. I don't think we should just let anyone do that - if we have brothels where prostitutes have to have check up and are provided with birth control, it's beneficial. Why?
--> We can tax it
--> We can help prostitutes stay STD free, which would lower the general spread of STDs over time
--> Human trafficking would plummet - if you were paying for sex, wouldn't you rather do it legally and knowing you weren't going to be getting STDs?
--> There's nothing inherently wrong about prostitution, so why not? I believe we have the right to do things until there is a reason for us not to have that right. And honestly, I don't think there are sufficient reasons to completely ban it.
--> It would simulate the economy with increasing jobs as well as economic growth
--> Sex is VERY healthy, regardless of whether you pay for it. A healthier population makes health care a lesser issue, so money can be allocated elsewhere.
--> We can give prostitutes birth control so there are fewer unplanned pregnancies. As it is, we can't force prostitutes to were condoms, or go on the pill. But if a condition of working at a brothel is being on very effective birth control, we can lower unwanted pregnancies (which could lower abortion rates for those who care about that, but it would also lower how many children the government has to provide for via welfare)
--> Police will not have to deal with prostitution charges or even pimps and stuff like that as much since it's being regulated. This means they can focus their efforts on other places.
Overall: it's going to happen anyway, so let's make it safer for everyone.

I for one, would likely not visit a prostitute, regardless of the legality, unless I was already getting sex elsewhere.
Now, I know that doesn't seem to make any sense. But it would be the only way I could guarantee to myself that I am gong there to enhance my sex life, not to create it.
If I were to realize that the only way I could get a woman to willingly perform sexual activity with me is to pay her in a contractual manner, I'd probably feel like killing myself.
That's why I would need a regular partner first.
Now, as far as the legality of the matter, if it were legal, it would have to be done properly. Age verification, security, sanitation, etc. Just like a restaurant or anything else. This would prevent trafficking , abuse, and the rest of what prostitution has become in America.
The reason prostitution is done in such a horrible manner is because of the illegality of it, and how it needs to operate under the cover of darkness. This prevents safety while promoting human rights violations.
Most of the people who oppose legalizing prostitution are women. As long as prostitution is illegal, the American performers will continue to be made up of "runaways" and drug-enslaved people waiting to die.
But if it was legalized, the sytem would police itself. Kind of like how Johnny Burger Man can't open up a burger joint down the street without the proper OK from the town and inspectors. It's not the town and inspectors who will run him out, it's the other legitimate businesses.
If legitimate prostitution houses existed with willing adult employees, illegitimate ones based on a victim workforce would not prosper.

I live in Nevada where many counties have legal prostitution. Here in Las Vegas it's not, but we still have prostitutes. Many of the LV ones are exploited, drug addicts or otherwise abused. In the legal counties, health exams and condoms are strictly enforced. There are many of the legal prostitutes that are realistic about their choice of a way of life and also many who are not. Some are just lazy, some are living a false life and some are desperate, but not exploited as they are well paid. I've never used a prostitute but have known a couple and they are mostly just people like you and I.

Best as you can negotiate the fee up front, instead of having a judge do it for you after you get divorced.

If a man and a woman make a financial arrangement that is their business.
