Soon to be Dog Owner, Looking For Advice.?
Hey so, next week I'll be a new dog owner... I have no pet owning experience at all. And I'm curious about what I should do to prepare for an Alaskan Husky pup. Just a few questions come to mind,..
-What do I want to look for in a dog food?
-How many times a day do I feed him?
-How do I potty train him?
Any ways, I would appreciate any and almost all advice you all might have.
Thanks guys, Ric K.

Well, I have a Miniature Jack Russell which is of course a breeze to handle compared to a Husky :)
She's actually sitting on my lap as I type this :)
Anyway around 3 medium sized meals a day should be plenty plus some treats for being a good boy :D
There must ALWAYS be fresh, clean water available for your dog to drink.
As for toilet training well,
What I did (it worked for me!) was anytime my puppy made a run, or started to sniff I would just put her outside of the door and say "Go toilet" and when the deed was done give lots and lots of praise and eventually they get the message. :)
I'm not 100% what you should look for in dog food to be honest...
Hope I helped and best of luck with your new friend :)

Well, sometimes you have to look at what age the dog is for you to specify dog food. My dog is now 9 years old and he has senior food. Your dog may need junior if he is young. And, it depends on the dogs craving haha, my dog eats anything, he has eaten WAY MORE human food than dog food. And the amount of times also depends on the dog but you should feed him at least once a day but that depends on the size of the meal. Maybe give him half a tin of food at dinner time and half a tin at like 8pm or something. Potty training is not as hard as people think, just make sure he goes a wee outside. Dont get mad if the dog first wee's inside as it happens to all new dogs, they have to learn.

As a new dog owner, pet owner even, Alaskan Huskys aren't really a good breed to start off with. Maby you could try a hamster (not being sarcastic) or if you really wanted a dog then somthing like a yorkie (I could answer lots of questions on them being an owner of one) or a westie. This might not be to helpful, but I was just pointing it out.

For a husky I would look for a Large Breed Grain-Free puppy food. Next I generally feed my puppy 3 times a day. To potty train I would take my dog out 15 minutes after he ate and let him do his business where I wanted. Then I gave him LOTS of praise and treats for doing so. Oh and since your getting a husky I would start grooming him now with a dog kong zoom n groom so he can get used to brushes because huskies shed ALOT. Finally start training asap because they are very stubborn dogs.

First of all congratulations for your pet. I Wish you Happy Petting.
1. I am assuming you are getting a puppy. Yours is a medium to large breed so do not feed any general puppy food as it will enhance his growth and will create hip/joint problems. Avoid buying any general brands such as pedigree or purina etc. Buy a special puppy food for large breeds. Blue Buffalo Wilderness and Canido are good options. Go to dogfoodanalysis.com for detailed info.
2. As a puppy you need to feed it 3-4 times. Create a schedule for feeding and divide his food (requirement will be listed on the package of dog food according to weight and it differs from brand to brand) in 3 or 4 parts and feed accordingly.
3. Potty training or house breaking is very necessary. It begins as soon as you bring your pet home. Start Crate training him first, trust me it will prove to be a blessing. Observe its bowel moments timing for a day. Generally a pup needs to go as soon as it wakes up and after meals. Place a newspaper and place it on floor. Whenever it pees or poops calmly pick him up before he finishes and put him on the newspaper. Then praise and treat him. Soon he will learn that he needs to poop and pee on newspaper. Now place the newspaper outside where u want him to pee or poop and take him there when its time. U will be surprised how quickly he learns. Never ever scold him or punish him for pooping in the house.
Hope i Helped. All the Beat.

this could look like a rare question, yet does she in simple terms react with growling and snapping while she's being held (exceedingly if she's being held via somebody who's status or walking)? if so, she could be insecure approximately being held that way. happens plenty with small canines as such rather some human beings look no longer able to withstand figuring out on them up each 5 seconds. i'm no longer suggesting which you ought to miss regarding the snapping. i'm suggesting that if it in simple terms happens in a particular situation, the canines could rather be frightened and or very much under pressure. the canines is trapped in somebody's hands and your head is moving in the direction of it--very annoying concern for the canines. i'm no longer enormous on actual corrections inspite of great canines (i do no longer think of i've got ever made a secret of that), so i might manage the subject the comparable way as i might in a extensive canines. solid verbal correction and an overlook approximately. My canines replaced into solid approximately no longer nipping epidermis, yet she had a troublesome time determining that there replaced into epidermis below clothing as a puppy. as quickly as she nipped me troublesome sufficient to entice blood via a sweatshirt and that i pulled her depressing, rotten upward thrust as much as mine and yelled at her and then I walked away. She in no way nipped lower back. i do no longer think of i might try this with certainly one of those youthful puppy in maximum circumstances--I did it with Jess because of the fact i replaced into helpful she wasn't going to decide for my face. yet with the demon puppy, you are able to hold her face and chew her out from a secure distance as she will't lunge that a approaches.
