New Router Won't Connect?
Just installed a new Linksys EA3500 router...only the computer I used to install the router would connect...another computer and a wireless thermostat (Nest) would only connect as a guest...Cisco says it's a wireless adapter issue with the computer and Nest says it's a router issue with the thermostat...I'm at a loss...thanks in advance for any help.
not sure what you mean by set up each device...both the computer and the thermostat show the new network ssid...and they allow me to enter the network password...however after choosing the new network and enterind the correct password, neither will connect.

Unless the thermostat supports encrypted networks then the guest account may be the only option. You need to be able to enter the password to connect to the "main" network. The Linksys isolates guest accounts (which are open) from the local network. The problem is configuration on the thermostats wifi / network settings!
Follow the guide ... http://support.nest.com/article/A-step-by-step-gui...
Select the primary SSID of the Linksys (don't leave "Linksys" as the SSID, change the name in the router settings for wifi!) Set the correct password and connect!
If those don't work follow these http://support.nest.com/article/Troubleshooting-Ne... directions.
I would say you aren't entering the correct password. The password you want to enter is the password for wifi encryption that you set up on the router! That is different than the routers admin password. Use a wired computer, login to the router http://192.168.1.1/ enter the routers user name /password. Once in the router setup pages go to the wifi settings. There find the "security tab" enter a password that you will use for wifi connections! Then retry your wifi setups on the computer and therm. Use the password you just set at the router. Upper/lower case counts!

You need to download and study the manual for your new router.
You must specifically set up each device that you want to have full access to the network. If you just plug a computer into the router, or connect via wireless, the device is automatically assigned to the guest network. You have to access the router to change that.
All instructions are in the manual
