How does the Gas Pump knows when to stop ?

I know its a stupid question, but I was just wondering does it have a sensor when to stop pumping gas into the gas tank ?

Back pressure. That's why sometime if your vent is clogged, the back pressure is higher than it should be and the gas pump keeps shutting off. A big pain if it has ever happened to you.

a gas pump pumps fuel in to the engine not gas tank, ohhhh and the pressure when you turn of the car, the engine stops and therefore pressure drops, mostly today the computer knows when the car stops and turns everything it needs to off
