Shouldn't we be discussing pharmaceuticals the nutbag in Newtown was on rather than the tool used?
(I refuse to use that weak-willed SOB's actual name)
http://www.naturalnews.com/038415_school_shootings...
[The mass murderer in the Newtown School shooting, reportedly took the pharmaceutical drug Fanapt, made by Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation. Other side effects of Fanapt include suicide, along with hostility, aggression, mania, a confused state, along with problems with impulse control.]
Granted, no mainstream media is confirming this report....as they are all too busy distracting the populace with the issue of gun control. But wouldn't you think that the drugs being prescribed to someone with a mental illness which carry side effects of hostility and aggression be the focus rather than the weapon in which the deranged chose to use to carry out the hostility?

First of all, if the weapon is the point of discussion, as I see it appears to be by these answers, then I say we discuss this issue as well.
Remember the Portland Mall shooting that occurred just before Sandy Hook? This guy allegedly had an AR-15 inside a mall. Has anyone stopped long enough to ask why only two people we're killed in a mall before this ended? Here's why : www.youtube.com/watch?v=58p1X-yOWy8
The Mayan Theater shooting happened after Sandy Hook. So how did the San Antonio Mayan theater shooting end? Why are we not hearing anything about this?

What was different about Sandy Hook? It was a gun free zone, and everyone was defenseless.
For all of you who think you can save the world by outlawing guns, maybe you should think about what happened when the Brit's tried disarming the US (Revolutionary War), what happened when alcohol was outlawed (Prohibition), or just how our 'War on Drugs' has ended drug use in the US- NOT!
When our own government intentionally puts guns in the hands of criminals (Operation Fast and Furious, Iran Contra, Air America, and thousands of other operations where they weren't caught), does anyone really think any illegal guns are going to be taken off our streets?
By giving up your rights, all you are doing is submitting yourself as a victim.
Let's say guns are outlawed, and we have a mass stabbing as happened in China: www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1bEkSiFlko
Do we then outlaw knives? What after that? Baseball bats, then sticks and stones?
The Second Amendment is in place to protect the First, and is the final and only check still in place separating our freedom from tyranny. This entire gun debate isn't about guns- it's entirely about changing our political system. As Hitler, Stalin, and others have proven, once they pull the teeth out of the citizens, the citizens become serfs.
For all of you people who think SSRI's (anti-depressants) are safe, maybe you should read the labels.
Doctors pass this crap out like it's candy. It is easier to get a script for anti-depressants than it is to walk into a doctors office with the flu and get any prescription for any meds for that.
Anti Depressants are also prescribed on a trial and error basis. They just start passing you pills until they find the combination that dulls all of your senses. Until they hit that right combination, all of the potential side effects on the labels apply. Even then, have SSRI's (anti-depressants) been proven safe? Truth is there has been minimal testing- at least what knowledge of testing is available to the public.
Psychology is at best pseudo- science. I challenge anyone to go do a Neuro Psych, and see if you can get a diagnosis where they don't suggest or try to put you on something.

No, you are assuming that because you are normal and believe the conspiracy theory about psychotropic drugs. While if used incorrectly, they make one suicidal, they are absolutely a lifesaver to many mentally ill people, like myself. That's correct. I am Bipolar 1 and suffer many symptoms but because I am strong enough to face down any judgment or hypocrisy from a narrow minded culture that does not understand that mental disorders are caused by physical problems too just like diabetes. They need adjustment and to come out of the closet like Gays and be loved for who they are so the destruction comes to an end whether it be suicidal or homicidal.

nicely, I easily have epilepsy and medical melancholy and prescription drugs are a godsend for me. this is actual; my antidepressant does at times get contained in the way of my creativity (which sucks) I do agree notwithstanding that there look way more advantageous *dysfunctions* round than familiar. I recommend, "generalized pressure sickness", "mood stabilizers" - etc. The pharmaceutical organizations have become so effective because of all of those *new* afflictions like *lower than pressure leg syndrome*, etc. It very almost looks as if they are making up a number of those afflictions with the intention to promote more advantageous drugs. And those drugs at the on the spot are not low-cost. i'm on SSI and actually one of my anti seizure drugs prices $a million,000 a MONTH yet i'm getting it for $3.00 because i'm insured. I easily were deeply depressed all of my existence and that i will not placed my finger on WHY. i lately examine an editorial the position even little youthful ones are being placed on antidepressants- no longer only Ritalin. i imagine it extremely is so incorrect. i began taking meds at the same time as i became 27 and Prozac kept my existence. It actually did. i'm now on one observed as Lexapro, and it helps my crushing melancholy as well. yet I consider you. I shop a mag and that i attempt to position in writing why i'm depressed and infrequently suicidal. I at times experience beaten by technique of little issues human beings can take care of truly. I easily have a very confusing time loving myself. no remember what I do, there is continually this...void interior me. i'd be on antidepressants continually and that makes me unhappy, yet even so, i do no longer favor to kill myself. And the anti seizure meds are necessary. I do take a tranquilizer, and it calms me down so i'm able to imagine. at times my concepts race and reason me to develop into numb to the international. there's a good e book by technique of Elizabeth Wurtzel observed as, "Prozac united states of america". yet everytime I watch television there is continually another *new* ailment - and they have undesirable undesirable outcomes. i tried Cymbalta (for melancholy) and it became a nightmare. yet definite, the pharmaceutical organizations are making huge income. this is style of a double sword. desire this made some experience. i'd inspire human beings to shop a mag and extremely write - poems- memories- some thing to floor your self and to make one comprehend themselves more advantageous constructive. Mahalo.

That is a wackjob lunatic conspiracy site. We're not talking about it because IT'S NOT TRUE. The "source" for the claim Lanza was on "pharmaceuticals" was a con artist just arrested by the FBI for hoaxing money out of people.

It is possible he was not taking any meds. As an adult, he has the right to refuse. Before being attacked, I did not say this was right. Just stated a possibility

The pharmaceutical companies have too much influence over both wings of the media.
I'm not afraid to use Lawton's name, though. That's too close to denying what he did, which we should never forget.

No.
While it is true that these drugs might have tipped him over the edge in terms of causing him to carry out the attacks, he must have had the desire to kill within him anyway.
The rate of deaths due to gun crime in the US is 10 times that in countries where guns are banned. I think America should ban guns, because it helps save lives. You don't need guns to live freely and prosper.

I agree and wondered about that myself.
It's not really about solving the problem - it's about ideology and control.
