Could Ward's inactivity bring his current pound for pound rankings down?
He only fought once thos year and with his should injury that requires surgery most likely rumors is that he will again only fight once for 2013.

Hey Christina:)
Andre "Son of GOD" Ward fought only one time this year when he defeated
the best Light Heavyweight in the world "Bad" Chad Dawson. Last year Ward
won the Super Middleweight Super 6 Tournament and defeated two of the best
in the world Carl Froch and Arthur Abraham. Andre Wards the best undisputed
Super Middleweight Champion. He doesn't need to fight Lucian Bute because a
fight would be meaningless because Froch knocked out Bute whom he beat and
Kelly Pavlik was going to be his last opponent at 168. Whenever he's fully healed
from shoulder surgery he will be back at 100% and be ready for his next fight and
we will see the same Andre "Son of GOD" Ward fighting at his best, in his prime.

EWWD is a fckin dumbprick! Ward only fought once this year and that's it. Lone Wolfe got it 100% correct with every word he said. Ward will probably fight just one fight because the shoulder injury he has is considered serious and he will be sideline for a while. Donaire or Sergio Martinez who have always been above Ward on the first place in the rankings should overtake him. Marquez also if he fights more should overtake him. I see Ward dropping to number 5 or 6 if he continues being inactive.

It's a shame that the best fighters only fight once or twice a year. Mayweather only fought once in 2012. Pacquiao only fought twice. Ward fought once. Nonito's Fighter of the Year is in part because he fought 4 times. Yet, using the #1 pound for pound fighter, Mayweather, as a standard... Ward will be fine because Mayweather is #1 after only fighting once. He should be fine unless Marquez and/ or Donaire fight several big fights and justify passing him.

He was injured, and they won't knock people down the list for temporary injuries. He was scheduled to fight again in Feb 2013, but they're gonna push it back some more because of his injury. But he's gonna defend his title once he's able to, so i'd say no, he won't go down in rank

I think the injury itself, not the inactivity will do that. The reality is physical, the injury makes Ward less effective than he once was,

I would say no. I believe he fought twice, but regardless he should be fine.
He has easily handled world class competition. The man hasn't had an easy fight lately.
