My 10 year old cat is peeing and pooping on my furniture at night and not using a litter box..?

I have resorted to putting shower curtains on the furniture and covering them with with towels to protect them. We have an automatic kitty litter system, we have not changed the brand of litter. This has been a growing issue over the past 6 months and is getting worse. We relocated the litter box to a secluded bathroom thinking she might not have liked the previous location. I am at the end of my wits, if her behavior does not change I will be forced to remove her (which I do not want to do). I have been locking her in the bathroom at night, which I feel mean about (not giving her free rein in the house, but she is destroying it). Any suggestions out there?

I suspect she fears the automatic litter box. perhaps it surprised her a few times. and do you change out ALL the litter once in awhile? Even when you scoop out the lumps, it does get stinky after awhile. But there's also a good chance it's a medical problem, so you should bring her to the vet. My Cat from Hell on Animal Planet is a very good show by a strange looking animal behaviorist. He has some info on the animal planet webpage. Stress due to environment problems is a HUGE deal. I made some changes to get my 10 year old cat to scratch carpet less, Imore vertical territory, more escape routes) which the changes made him feel less stressed, and lo and behold! His puking problem went away, that he'd had for a few years and appeared to be frequent hairball blockages. He also scratched carpet less.

There may be a cat outside that is upsetting your cat.

Last year my beautiful Manx cat Theodore went out for the evening and never came back. I love cats and the house didn't feel the same without one, so I picked up Lola from a rescue centre. She was very frightened and would pee all over the house. I found Cat Spraying No More on the internet and the techniques worked almost immediately. I haven't had a problem with Lola since. Amazing!

Can't stop your cat peeing in the house? Then worry no more...

WHY have you not had the cat evaluated at the vet? Medical conditions present as inappropriate urination and pooping quite often. You can't blame the cat for an untreated medical condition. Urinary infections are common, it's a $15 course of antibiotics to clear it up. That won't go away by itself.

If the cat didn't do this before, and had the sudden change, my first guess would be 'medical'.

i think of that canines could have the liberty to pass exterior to do their company. attempt taking her out to pee close to a fireplace hydrant. Fyi, there's a reason canines do no longer wanna use CAT clutter boxes (incorrect species).

I would keep putting her the room at night until she start using the bathroom
