Earth's surface is heated by the sun and cools by radiating energy into space. Some of that radiated energy is trapped by greenhouse gases in the troposphere, and this is what keeps the surface of the planet warm enough to sustain most of the life here (including us).

Global warming is what you get when the temperature of the surface increases faster than that energy can be radiated away into space, and this is caused by increasing the concentration of greenhouse gases in the troposphere, which right now is mostly caused by human activities.

A lot of publicity has be given to "Global Warming" caused by "greenhouse gases" like carbon dioxide, in order to tax people for emitting a natural waste product of most living organisms. Carbon dioxide actually comprises a tiny part of the atmosphere. Dry air contains roughly (by volume) 78.09% nitrogen, 20.95% oxygen, 0.93% argon, 0.039% carbon dioxide, and small amounts of other gases. Air also contains a variable amount of water vapor, on average around 1%.

genuinely fake. The earth has been cooling considering 1998. the only thank you to assert it has persisted warming is to control documents. In 1976 we've been "headed for a sparkling ice age via 1990". That did no longer take place. In 1989 we've been "headed for worldwide warming which will reason droubt and famine worldwide via 2000." That did no longer take place. In 2006 it replaced to "climate substitute".
