Would a black mystery snail still mate with a dead snail?

if the snail is dead his/her shell door will fall down and it will smell so bad it can even make you sick too :(

My apple snail die about 2 months ago , he didn't moved much and also he was closed in his shell for very long until i pick him up and smell him :'( .

Did you test your fish tank water? do you feed your snails with fresh vegetables and algae waffles?

snails cannot only survive eating only left over fish food etc. they need some fresh vegetables too.

To both posters above... she is not asking if a dead snail will get pregnant.... she's asking if a snail will attempt to mate with a dead snail so that she can guage whether her snail is still alive.... read the question!

I would pick the snail up and look inside. You could even use the eraser of a pencil to lightly touch the body of the snail and see off it recoils from touch. If it doesn't respond.... it is dead. Remove from tank and dispose... sorry:(
