Static? It's the most animated UI Microsoft has ever put out.
Anywho, Windows 8 does has a number of features that make it faster and more secure than 7 so it would be a waste to get rid of it. Just install a start menu replacement, like Start8. It'll give you a Windows 7-style start menu so you don't have to bother with the start screen anymore. At $5, it's a heck of a lot cheaper than buying a copy of Windows 7 and you don't have to wipe out your hard drive and spend a weekend reinstalling your old programs.

I've lost track of how many Windows 8 issues I have worked here since Christmas (as Christmas seems to be when most people got new PCs w/Win 8).
Why don't you do a search on "Windows 8" on this forum? Look up, there is a "what are you looking for" box and search there. Read the 100s upon 100s of problems we have been working with users on. Then make your decision.

1. I didn't like it.
2. It fcked my solid state hard drive up after a week due to crashing.
There was nothing wrong with the Hard drive because crucial give a 3 year warranty and Id'e only had it 6 month.
3. I had no back up because I used the direct upgrade facility.

Most people like what they know, and don't like it when the functionality and layout of the system changes. A lot of people found the new appearance of Windows 8 to be confusing to operate, and didn't like it.
