You've adequately described what may be an awkward situation but you already have a head start--you and he are friends. Take the opportunity, if he happens to be alone, to approach him at lunch and ask, "I may be wrong but I have the distinct feeling that you're trying to avoid me," which may prompt the (defensive) reply, "Why do you say that?" That should open the discourse. Tell him that you know that he is aware of how you feel about him but now you would like to know how he feels about you. He may be avoiding you because he may not feel the same intensity of emotion as what you've already expressed and finds it easier to steer clear of you rather than be in the position where he may have to tell you the truth, if that is the truth. The matter won't blow over until it is confronted but your friendship need not be compromised by an airing out of feelings. At the very least, you'll know where you stand--whatever the outcome--and can carry on your life without the nagging mystery.

Just talk to him normally. If he refuses to be talk normally. Ask him why he is like that as if nothing happened. If he says that he knows that you like him. Tell him that it was when you saw him and after you became friends, you thought you'll be his girlfriend only if he is interested. Guess that should work!
