Are Will o' the Wisps good or bad?

Some people say that they'll lead you to death, but some say they'll lead you to good fortune.

So which is it? Are they good or bad?

    Bad.

Believe it or not, I actually saw one once last year. I had no idea what it was called, but then I told my friend about it and she knew the name of it (we were IMing each other via yahoo!messenger).

I was sitting outside watching for fairies (I've seen some of those, too) with a pair of binoculars at night. I was at a distance, and something flashing caught my eye over in my yard which is next to the woods. I stared at this flickering light which was somewhat faint and hard to see. I kept wondering if it was an illusion or wasn't really anything worth observing. I started watching the woods again but couldn't stop thinking bout the light and started watching it again. After a few minutes it suddenly started moving very fast, gliding across the ground and it disappeared behind my father's truck. I live near a marsh/swamp and it's right around the end if my parents' yard.

Anyways, Will o' the Wisps live in or around swamps/marshes (which makes a lot of sense in my case). They carry lanterns (which must have been the flickering light I saw) and they lure people into the swamps/marshes to their watery deaths. They hold you underwater, in other words, and drown you. They're not something to mess with.

So yes, they're bad. Evil, in fact. They're said to be angry spirits or something of cruel people who died if I remember correctly.

    Hope this helped,

    They're indifferent.
