Do I have to have accurate info?
So I am writing a book that takes place at Columbia University. I am only a sophomore so I don't know much about dorm rooms. Should I use a real name of a dorm? and if I do, do I have to go with what the correct information says? My main thing is that I want my main character to share a room and I am super confused as to what a single and double room is. All the dorms have more single rooms than double rooms so i'm really confused as to what to do...

I'm pretty sure single dorm is by yourself,
double you share with one other person,
and triple (if you wish to use this), you share with two other people.
If this makes it any easier for you:
Single Dorm = 1 resistant. (by yourself)
Double Dorm = 2 resistances. (you and one other person)
[Triple Dorm = 3 resistances.] (you and two other people)
Depending on your genre,
having accurate information may and may not matter.
But from what you've got written here,
it would be best to try and be as realistic as possible.
Good Luck! :)

I don't know about the dorms but it's best to have accurate information in a novel if the is place is real regardless of genre. False information annoys people who know it's false. Anyone who picks up on false information will also be more than happy to tell others about it and word can spread fast.

No. Accurate information is completely unnecessary in a fictional novel, unless yours is a nonfiction or biography.
I'm assuming its a fictional novel, so I am going to say that you do not need accurate info and its your decision what you write.
Hope I helped c:
