does anyone have a solution to our violence problem?
we do if we all pull together...
@ zestfully clean, peddle that crap to the 500 chicago dead or the guy shoved in front of the subway. or better yet spend 1 night in shelia jackson lee's district, or watts, or compton..our violence is segmented. it revolves around minorities, illegals, and government housing. just because your little bubble seems safe, so did the bubble in the batman movie...

This is the safest our society has been in decades, yet for some reason I keep hearing this bullshit about how we're living in a "culture of violence."
No. Mali is a culture of violence. Bangladesh is a culture of violence. E-waste ridden China is a culture of violence. Just 2 weeks ago a young woman in India was gangraped and beaten and killed when all she was doing was taking a bus home from the movie theater. When was the last time any of us had to worry about something like that happening to us? Never. We live in a culture where our biggest concern is the nearest Iphone charger. Believe me, we are not living in a culture of violence.
EDIT: Just because violence EXISTS does not make our culture violent in and of itself. You are talking about very, very isolated violent events that had a lot of media attention, which would only make it seem like we are living in a violent culture because of the way that they are presented to us. If we were living in a culture of violence, we wouldn't be giving those events any attention, and we wouldn't care. A "violent culture" wouldn't care that there is violence, but the fact that we DO care and the fact that we DO condemn the rare acts of violence, shows that we are NOT a culture of violence.
By the way, when I say that we are living in one of the safest societies to date, I'm not going on opinion, I am going on fact. I am going on actual numbers.

Repeal Roe v. Wade.
Most of the violence in our country is due to that court ruling.

We don't have a violence problem. The violent crime rates in the US have been going down. We are already decreasing crime.
