Is it important to have a friend as the same sex?

I definetly agree with 'she said..' . Guys and girls cant be friends, one of the two, if not both, will be attracted to the other. Ask any man and he would tell you the same. And women would say they can, maybe their naive I guess. Regardless though, in Islam a man and woman can't be friends as it will lead to other things which is why we need to lower our gaze.

No, it's not important to have friends. It's nice to have people you can talk to etc but i feel like no one is really trustworthy so I befriend people but to a certain extent an again we don't need friends.. We have Allah and He's the only one that we truly need

Friends are okay to have but you can't trust them. But yes Muslim friends are usually better because we share common habits. Not sure What girls do though because I'm a guy

'People will be with whom they love' -hadith of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). Meaning on the day of judgement a person will be raised with those he/she loved i.e. those you stayed with. so you should have muslims as friends because you dont want to be resurrected with the non muslims on that day.

Also it is haram to have friends of the opposite gender.
