16, confused about religion, scared of hell... Overwhelmed. Any advice?
I believe in a creator. I believe in a higher being that I call “God”, “the Lord in Heaven” – Just not the associative religion or Biblical philosophy. I disagree with many modern Christian/Catholic opinions. Involvement of others (religion) makes me quite uncomfortable. Yet, I don’t believe in moral absolutes or moral purity. Life, to me, should be lived according to personal choice and consciousness – Not a book.
Maybe it’s my vulnerable age of 16, but I’m afraid. If the Biblical God is real, will I be going to Hell for perception of God? I’m confident in my cultural morality – Just not my spiritual morality. And to be quite honest, I’m scared of an eternity of hell. The prospect of hell and possible incongruence of my beliefs concern me. Sometimes, I wonder if I should live a devout Christian life if only for confirmation of Heaven. But then what if it’s not real? What if it is? For goodness' sake, what if Thor is real and I'll wind up spending an eternity with Loki?
There are so many 'what if’s that are genuinely overwhelming me. This is a concept I am very uncomfortable with grasping and accepting, so I’m looking for any possible guidance you can offer.
Thank you, thank you, thank you beyond belief. Happiest of new years’ wishes. xx

All this will seem superfluous once to start to think logically.
1. Why is God like a human.
2. Why is he a trinity, why not 300 or 3 million?
3. Who is going manage hell for eternity? Anyway, how long is eternity?
4. Where will animals go after they die? Is there a separate hell and heaven for them? What about trees?
5.Human history goes back to 50,000 years, then why did god reveal his "Holy books" only 2000 years back?
6.Why was God's son sent only to the middle east? Why not Europe, India or China?
7. Why does God need people to protect him and spread his word?

Some truths can be ascertained through reductionism (science).
If I bake a cake and present it to a chemist - that chemist can tell me about the cake, it's chemical composition, and could possibly even explain how it was prepared. But no matter how much he analizes the cake he will never be able to answer the question: Why did I bake the cake?
Why I baked the cake can only be ascertained by revelation - in other words if he wanted to know why he would have to ask me, and I could if I choose reveal may reason to him - I like cake!
The Bible claims to be Gods revelation to mankind, as do other texts. Might warrant looking at - (as well as the Gita's and other texts) when evaluating things. The journey is very personal, you must take it alone - but those who honestly and diligently seek the truth can find the truth!

Well, honestly, a loving God and hell really isn't possible. I believe that either the biblical god is evil, or he doesn't exist. It seems quite likely, to me, that he doesn't exist. I'm fine with people believing in whatever but if this is causing you stress and fear I think it's time you look into it a bit more and consider that maybe the Bible isn't the book of extreme accuracy some people say it is. I think that if a god exists, he/she/it would not be sending people to hell. So I hope that comforted you at least a little bit.

I was going to write a long winded post about gods and the afterlife more than likely not existing. But instead I'll say this.
If you're having doubts, if you're asking yourself these questions. Keep thinking about it more. Because honestly, it's the first step towards Atheism or Agnosticism. At your age, that's not a bad thing.
Religion is designed to make you ask less questions. When you do ask them, you'll get an answer like "you just need more faith" which translates to "stop asking questions and believe anything".

I will give you a simple solution to yor problems that I have been meaning to give to other people as well.
Follow what is common between the major religions. In that way you are most likely to be safe cause believers in god would not suffer 'eternal hell' (unless they did something really wrong)
Here are some of the rules-
1.Worship only one god(Monotheism)
2.Do not pray to god through anyone else(like a priest or a saint or a dead person etc.)
3.Do not at all commit Murder, theft, adultery, gambling ,indulging in intoxicants(like drugs ,alchohol etc.),unprovoked retaliation etc.
4.Do not have an image of god even in your mind
Even in hiduism there are religious texts proclaiming one god but says that idol worship is okay but only for people of lower level of connectedness with god.But in other religions this is one of the biggest sins.
Don't ever look to Atheism for an answer.Coz,what if you die and then it turns out that there is a god.Better safe than eternally sorry.
Peace
[Also(I'm not exactly sure) if you follow what is common between Christians and Muslims (these guys are the most misunderstood people in the world :( ,anyways if you follow what is common your safe in judaism and hinduism and buddhism as well -this is my conclusion from the research i've done in my life]
There is more to it than meets the eye.
Truly some atheists say that religious people are illogical and blind.BUt it is they who are blind. Some believe in aliens having DNA as well without realising the fact that if evolution is all a mistake ,how did the same mistake on another planet also give rise to the same thing -DNA.Many atheist clearly miss out on a lot of things regarding evolution. For if indeed an organism was born out of an accident then no descendants would arise from it since it did not evolve the capability to reproduce(the evolution process itself requires reproduction). The same applies for eating, breathing, excreting etc. all of which would have to have come into existence at the same time else the creature could not exist for long. Therefore all this could not have come by chance.Ponder over this.

Due to their many contradictions, all religions cannot be right.
Due to lack of evidence for any of them, all religions can be wrong.
There's as much evidence that supports the existence of Odin and there is for the christian deity:
None and none.
So, don't sweat it, there's no god, no heaven and no hell. The key to a good life is that that is it's own reward. It's the knowledge that you did things properly, and were good to people, that lets moral people sleep comfortably at night.
“Sin lies only in hurting other people unnecessarily. All other "sins" are invented nonsense. (Hurting yourself is not sinful - just stupid).”
Robert A. Heinlein (American science-fiction Writer, 1907-1988)
At your age, there is a lot to learn. Do so with a view to open inquiry and you will then be able to work out these issues for yourself.

Hell is nothing more than an idea designed to blackmail people into believing out of fear. You're threatened with it if you stop believing in it -- which is absurd, since if you're right in not believing in it, then it doesn't exist and there's nothing to be afraid of. Religion tries to frighten you into not wanting to "take that chance" -- which is commonly referred to as Pascal's Wager. But you've found one of the major flaws in Pascal's Wager: there's more than one religion in the world, with nothing to show that one is "more correct" than any other.
Interesting game; the only winning move is not to play at all. Your initial instinct was to be compassionate for your fellow living beings, live according to personal choice and conscience, and reject the idea of Hell, wasn't it? That was a good instinct. The only thing any person can do is live according to the demands of their conscience, trying to do the best they can -- and any God who would condemn a person to eternal hellfire for following their conscience is no God worth worshiping.

Your emotions are spiritually based on what you sense (rightly so) that is real. It's good to think and deal with the what ifs. Some people have been given real visions of heaven and/or hell or experienced one of them in near death experiences. These three videos show examples. The last link is a test you can do to see where you are currently headed, and how to obtain assurance of going to heaven.

Christine says; 'The Bible is not just any book, it is a gift from God and the knowledge in it can give a person eternal life in a good place, either heaven or a paradise earth. So, read the four gospels and get to know Jesus, and obey his advice. He is our model. Follow in his footsteps. Pray for faith. Remember Jesus did not like lukewarm Christians so pray to be either hot or cold.'
Judgment day is upon us, so it behooves all to repent on bended knees, in sackcloth and ashes, (means to be dead on serious), praying for Holy Spirit.
Best wishes to you and yours from Yahweh/Jehovah God, Jesus God, Moses the angel, and Christine Anne the prophetess.
