Why don't we privatize education?

Seeing as atheistic governmental workers are the ones running the public education system, why don't we just cancel it? I'm tired of children being indoctrinated by Obama that evolution is even a plausible explanation. Children should be allowed to get a religious education!

Update 2:

@Michael B: Is the only real reason you want public schools to be in existence because they are the only place evolution is tolerated?

Teacher's unions would fight it. Private schools consistently provide a far better education for much less money.

All children here get a religious education.

(The public education system in Great Britain)

It's a specialised subject that teaches us about many religious. The whys the whats the whens and the hows. Purely as a matter of fact based on the religious views of those people.

It's to broaden out horizons, build tolerance and acceptance and to fight ignorance.

I remember a muslim woman walking into class and showing us her prayer mat. She didn't try to convert us. She just told us what each corner meant, how often they pray and that it should always be pointed east. Personally I thought it was gorgeous. And then we spent an hour drawing out own. This was in 1997.

    We're also taught science.

What's wrong with having both? You can believe it, or not. It doesn't matter. The most important thing is that you get the information needed from all sides to generate your own educated opinion.

Although it's generally accepted that science is majorly based on fact while religions tend to be based on faith and word of mouth.

If you privatise education it kind of defeats the purpose of education being a right, not a privilege. Only the right would have access, and the wealth gap would widen considerably.

Saying that the American education system, as it stands, kind of sucks at the moment anyway. Class sizes are getting bigger, teachers getting laid off, school closures. They really need to look at the state budgets and value education first and foremost.

Indoctrination is to implant a doctrine.

'Doctrine' is a synonym for 'article of faith'

Faith is belief that is not based upon proof.

Sure it's not a problem if school explains how religion exists. It's history after all, but it's immoral to inculcate children with something that hasn't any base or proof. Not to mention, how they cannot be a good person without god. What's up with that?

It isn't canceled because not everyone feels the same way as you.

And by the way, Children are entirely allowed to 'get' a religious education. That is what religious studies, camps, and places of worship are built for..

  • What a disaster! Why is it that some want to take us back to 18th Century France where there was an aristocracy and a vast number of poor people? Education was only available there in private schools, too.

Christ commands us to help the poor and needy and to treat others as we want to be treated. Taking education away from people and inhibiting their ability to learn, grow and get better jobs is unchristian and unamerican. But it makes lots of money for the elite running the "private" schools and that's the real "god" being worshiped under that "morality."

Children need a well rounded education. And teaching them that the evolution was not real is wrong BECAUSE IT DID HAPPEN. Society needs to move on from the days when "god" created everything and the world was flat. These schools teach so children can become scientists and doctors. These people are the ones who can prove that evolution did happen. They will also be the ones saving your life with medication. As much as you would like to believe so, praying WILL NOT cure your cancer.

Also Privatisation would also cost families thousands a year and lead to them living in poverty and on benefits which will cost te economy billions.

P.s Obama is a christian, you idiot. He is just a smarter one than you.

Children should certainly be allowed to get a religious education, but it should not be taught in public schools which are paid for by all taxpayers, most of whom are not in agreement with you.

There are plenty of private schools where you can send your children to learn about religious values. I think the vast majority of people would have absolutely no problem with that. Where the problem starts is that you seem to expect that your kid's beliefs should be subsidized by other people's taxes. It's very inconsiderate to think that way. In case you didn't mean that and I misinterpreted your question, I apologize, but that seems to be what you are saying...

I went to Sunday school when I was younger, and again there are plenty of schools that offer the kind of education you are looking for, although I will admit it might suck to live in an area where there aren't any of them nearby your home. But if it's that important, why don't you move to where there are those kind of schools?

Schools have been run the way it is now way before Obama was President. Also, not everyone has the same religious beliefs as you and should not have your beliefs shoved down their throats. Another thing, its the parents choice whether they want their kids to go to a public school or a religious school.

We have essentially moved in that direction with charter schools. Most are a disaster. Turning education over to religious groups given that most Americans are not particularly religious does not seem like a solution.

Shut up . You just want to force your religious lies down kids throats ave satanas! Learning about religion would just make us learn less
