Is it possible to CHANGE an existing credit card number?

I really want to change my existing credit card number, I DON'T want to get a new credit card. I think one is enough. Is there any way I can do this and if there is, will it be a hassle?

Like, will the credit card company ask a million intrusive questions or decline? Anyone know A: HOW I can change the number and B: WHAT I can expect if I do?

Your credit card company can cancel your existing account and set you up with a new one (assuming your account is in a good status), but they will want to know the reason. For instance, if you lost the card, they will rapidly send you a new one, with a new number. Just call the 800 number on the back of your card.

What to you is "a million intrusive questions" is to them an attempt to avoid fraud, and to avoid frivolous changes. If you're doing this for an inappropriate reason, their records will still have your former account, and they can, if necessary, come after you.

What are you trying to do?

Even if you change the number, pre-authorized charges will still go through.

You have to be honest with your questions.

Also be honest with your credit card company.

Do you have the numbers 13 13?

Then just tell them this and they will take care of you.
