only young earth creationists say this. so this is not the belief of all christians. I know you're not saying it is...but many of the dummies posting comments are saying it. But you are glueing both humanitys age and the earths age together in your question. The fact is, science proves the earth is almost 5 billion yrs old. That says nothing of the age of man. That has not been determined by science though some would have you believe it has. The bible puts mans beginnings to approx 6,000 years ago. So you really have 2 seperate issues here. Check out that word "was" In Genesis 1:2 and verify it by was a Strongs says that word can be translated to. This is the essense to what the other guy above is talking about a time span between Earths creation and mans arrival. That one word makes the time gap appear. check it out...cya

Science has proved that a world flood did happen sometime around 10, or 8 thousand years ago.
You missed the key words of those who make claim that man is 6000 years old, Man is only as old as the records can deduce pertaining to the WORLD FLOOD.
They make claim that the earth is only 6000 years old ,,Very silly, is it not.

The Earth is billions of years old. Man was created about 6000 years ago. Notice Gen 1:1.
(Ge 1:1) “1 In [the] beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”
That's it. Then some time later God began to form the earth for man's habitation.

Few people still think that the earth is only 6000 years old. It's believed Genisis was dumbed down for a primitive people so they can kinda start to understand what happened but arn't overwellemed by atoms, molecules, big numbers, etc.

The earth is more likely between 6000 to 10,000 years old.
Unlike the billions of years yielded by dating, this age can be suggested by more than a dozen different measurements.
This is what we call "corroboration".

the international's oldest recorded tree is a 9550 365 days previous spruce in the Dalarna province of Sweden. way cool, i'm hoping they do all they are able to to maintain it alive. i'd like to work out it. (love trees, uh oh, am I a Druid?) Creationists: properly some solutions have already lined what i replaced into going to assert "Heads exploding" "making a music lalalalalala" and of direction their fall guy devil!! some, in all probability are questioning (gasp) and revamping their outlook. remember in basic terms 'God' could make a tree. ;-D I had a co worker who different than for starting to be completely speechless while a fellow co worker stated he replaced into an Atheist, later moaned that it wasn't honest that many trees had longer lives than people. I instructed him trees make contributions lots greater advantageous than people do to the well-being of the planet. flow trees!! Creationists have been 'placed right here' for the entertainment of something human beings. (exploding heads and all) over a million/2 million years in the past. (incredibly in simple terms shrink them open and count quantity their jewelry!)
