What is "the sum of 10 divided by a number and that number divided by 10"?
I need to write this as an algebraic expression (with x representing "a number"):
the sum of 10 divided by a number and that number divided by 10
I get 10/x for "10 divided by a number".
I assume "that number" is the solution to 10/x
It seems to me that there are 2 variables ("a number" and "that number") but the instructions indicate using only one variable (x).
The instructions are: Write each English phrase as an algebraic expression. Let the variable x represent the number.
If you can explain how you came up with your answer, I'll appreciate it! I'm trying to understand how to do this so I can do similar problems correctly.
Thanks!

The two numbers mentioned are the same number ("that number" represents the number mentioned earlier in the question, so they are the same).
So, the answer is 10/x + x/10.
I hope this helps!

If a favorable huge type is split by technique of a negative huge type, the answer is negative. imagine of it as a triangle. the proper of the triangle is a favorable signal (+) and the bottom 2 corners are negative signs and indicators (-). it ought to look like this: + - - Now, bypass around the triangle. once you've a favorable huge type, initiate on the proper, and then bypass on your next huge type, which for this reason is a negative. Whichever signal is left contained in the triangle must be your answer. The negative signal is left contained in the triangle, so your answer will be negative. in case you take advantage of the triangle for multiplying or dividing 2 negative numbers, the only signal left is a favorable. hence, your answer must be effective. and clearly, once you're multiplying or dividing 2 effective numbers, the answer will continually be effective. desire this can help you contained in the destiny!
