I stepped on a rusty nail?
Hi.
Today I was walking in my backyard when I felt something jab into my foot.
It hurt so bad, but I took the nail out.
I know the logical thing would be to get a tetanus shot, but I can't, because last time I got one I almost died from a allergic reaction.
Help?

Consult with your doctor, plain and simple!
If your last Tetanus shot was less than 10 years ago, you should be OK. You only need a Tetanus booster once every 10 years:

If that last unfortunate Tetanus booster was more than 10 years ago, tell your doctor that you were last immunized outside of the 10 year time span and that you have an allergy to the typical Tetanus boosters. He will know what alternatives you have for the prevention and possible treatment of any infection you may have acquired from the rusty nail. Also, since you had a bad allergic reaction to the last Tetanus booster your body may not be truly immunized against the infection... again, talking to a physician is the smartest thing to do! Early diagnosis will make it easier to treat any possible complications from the injury.
Long story short: you're probably fine, but it would be wise to consult with your physician. He'll be able to recommend the best medical course of action.
