what does this message from windows movie maker mean?

I'm trying to import an AVI of a file but it gave me this message

"C:\Users\Toki\Desktop\Adventure Time with Finn and Jake - 305b - What Was Missing [449].avi could not be imported. The required codec was not downloaded automatically because the Download codecs automatically check box is not selected in the Options dialog box."

I have no idea what it means, do I have to convert it or something?

AVI video files encoded with Xvid or DivX codecs are problems for Movie Maker. If downloading codecs doesn't work, convert the file to WMV. I use iWisoft's converter (after trying most of the freebies a few years ago). Format Factory is good if you are new to converting.

You can find tutorials for both of these programs on YouTube.

These codecs are required to open files of different formats. Initially, windows movie maker supports only few formats and it automatically downloads the required codecs whenever a new format of file is opened.

So, all you have todo is go to "Options" and select "Automatically download codecs" and now close the windows movie maker and try to reopen the file.

    Hope this helps. :)
