Drinking with parents in Vegas?

So I was looking at this site and it says minors can drink with parental approval in Nevada. Site is: http://drinkingage.procon.org/view.resource.php?re...

I looked around and found the Nevada gov site which says it is:

NRS 202.020 Purchase, consumption or possession of alcoholic beverage by minor.

1. Any person under 21 years of age who purchases any alcoholic beverage or any such person who consumes any alcoholic beverage in any saloon, resort or premises where spirituous, malt or fermented liquors or wines are sold is guilty of a misdemeanor.

2. Any person under 21 years of age who, for any reason, possesses any alcoholic beverage in public is guilty of a misdemeanor.

3. This section does not preclude a local governmental entity from enacting by ordinance an additional or broader restriction.

4. For the purposes of this section, possession “in public” includes possession:

(a) On any street or highway;

(b) In any place open to the public; and

(c) In any private business establishment which is in effect open to the public.

5. The term does not include:

(a) Possession for an established religious purpose;

(b) Possession in the presence of the person’s parent, spouse or legal guardian who is 21 years of age or older;

(c) Possession in accordance with a prescription issued by a person statutorily authorized to issue prescriptions;

(d) Possession in private clubs or private establishments; or

(e) The selling, handling, serving or transporting of alcoholic beverages by a person in the course of his or her lawful employment by a licensed manufacturer, wholesaler or retailer of alcoholic beverages.

5B makes it seem legal

Everywhere else says it's against the law, can someone tell me if it is or isn't legal for a parent to give a minor alcohol in Nevada?

    5B only means the police won't arrest somebody's kid because they're holding their beer while they tie their shoes. It gives limitations on what the word "possession" means. Note there is no limitations on the definition of "purchase".

    But as far as the consumption of alcohol by a minor, the state law more-or-less respects private property. No limitations inside the house or private establishments (other than business establishments that are open to the public). So if you want to give your child a glass of wine at your dinner table, you won't have the SWAT team breaking down your door.

    It's against the law for a minor to consume alcohol anywhere in the US. Possession isn't the same as consumption. 5(b) just means that you can hold onto alcohol such as a bottle of wine in the presence of your parents. Likewise, you may take a sip of sacramental wine in church, have a prescription, or serve it in an establishment. Sorry to disappoint you, but Nevada isn't as liberal as some people think. They are actually very strict about alcohol laws here.

    Possession is not the same as consumption. You cannot drink until you are 21, with or without your parents.
