(Halo 4 Spoiler Alert)Is Cortana dead?
Yes, I know she's gone, but I was wondering if AIs could really die. They're not living life forms, but they somewhat have feelings. I could tell that Cortana had feelings. It's confused me since I finished the campaign.

AI's like Cortana are only built to last seven years; Cortana has been in function for eight, (which explains why she acts so crazy throughout the Campaign.) She "split" her body into multiple Cortanas to attack the Diadect and save the Chief, and she used the last of her strength to protect John from the Nuke. At the end of the game, she said that she couldn't return with the Chief because most of her was left in the explosion and the other part of her was too weak to stay active. However, we never actually see an onscreen death for Cortana, so there is a chance that she will return in Halo 5 or 6, but it is currently unknown if she is really dead or is still alive.
